WATER FILTERS
This project is to purchase water filters for the students at Namamanuca Primary School. The children currently rely on water straight from the unfiltered rainwater tanks as well as three small, outdated and broken filtering dispensers. By donating, you are giving these beautiful children adequate access to safe and reliable drinking water as the money will purchase sufficient and current water filters for each classroom.
COMMUNITY WELL
The bore hole is the main source of water for the entire Yanuya population. From the village elders to the kindergarten students, everyone uses the bore hole at least once daily. That being said, the bore hole is extremely unsafe, has rocks carved as stairs and is a major health hazard. This project was created through collaboration with the Village Chief and the Namamanuca Primary School Headmaster to design an appropriate well mechanism. This will ensure safe and easy water collection for all. The donation money will purchase the remaining materials required to build the well and will also pay for builders to complete the construction.
WATER TANKS
Rain water is heavily relied upon on Yanuya. Namamanuca Primary School uses large concrete water tanks that are open at the top, lack filtration and are many years old. They are quite unfit for safe water accessibility. There is also not enough tanks to capture sufficient quantities of water when there is rainfall. The donation money will purchase new, filtering water tanks to supply each building, each teacher's house and the toilet blocks with a tank each. The old concrete tanks aim to be replaced also. Further, this project aims to supply the general population of Yanuya each with their own water tank as many houses either go without or have tanks that are not properly installed.
